New Year’s Resolutions ?

Many of us make New Year’s Resolutions individually, but what about our Circles ?  Councils ? Assemblies ?  Chapters?

All of the above could or should consider a New Year’s Resolution to get on board with the “Adopt-A-Seminarian” program.  You can take part without it costing your unit a single penny ! Just make a commitment to pray for Vocations in general and for a particular seminarian individually.

We currently have twenty nine seminarians preparing for priesthood for the Diocese of Pittsburgh.  We are sure that at least twenty seven are receiving support from at least one unit in the diocese, but we could do better.

You can take part in the Supreme Council’s RSVP program by committing to contribute $500.00 ($200.00 for Squire Circles) over the course of the Fraternal Year (July to June) and you will receive a 20% rebate from Supreme Council.

You can also take part in the K of C, Diocese of Pittsburgh “Adopt-A-Seminarian” program by just agreeing to “Adopt” a seminarian and praying for him at your council meetings; asking your members to pray for him in their homes.  When you agree to make this “Spiritual Adoption” we will give you some information on his background that you can share with your membership.  We encourage your members to send him cards, notes, care packages, etc.  And especially to remember him on his birthday, Christmas, Easter, etc.

The most important thing is to let “your” seminarian know that someone other than his family cares about his vocation and is praying for him.

Our new Bishop, Sir Knight, Most Reverend David A. Zubik, has made a commitment to increase the number of seminarians in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

We can all help in this regard by making a New Year’s Resolution to participate in the special Knights  of Columbus, Diocese of Pittsburgh “Adopt-A-Seminarian” program.

Council, Assemblies, Circles…..contact Joe Cummings or Father Jim Wehner for the name of a seminarian who can use your support.
